This catalog presents a select arrangement of rare, antique and decorative books. Featured is our next session from a large private library of bibliographies and other books-on-books. Deluxe antique bindings and sets will be offered along with an array of titles relating to American history and early works including 18th century titles. Antique and rare books are numerous in this catalog. Among the earliest examples are ?Bishop Burnet?s History of His Own Time ,? published in two oversized volumes in 1724 and 1734, the 1721 first edition of Reresby?s ?Miscellany of Ingenious Thoughts and Reflections in Verse and Prose,? and Lucanus? (Marcus Annaeus) ?Pharsalia Sive Belli Civilis cum Vita et Testimoniis,? published in two volumes in 1751. Additional rare finds include the 1812 first edition of Sir Humphry Davy?s ?Elements of Chemical Philosophy,? with the twelve engravings present, the two-volume folio set of Bloch and Crommelynck?s ?Picasso 347,? and five 1893 elephant folio decorative volumes of Hitchcock?s ?The Art of the World,? presenting artwork displayed at the World?s Columbian Exposition in Chicago. The library of books-on-books includes bibliographic works, histories of printing and private presses, and niche publishing topics such as Jewish books. Of particular note are Waite?s ?Dealings in Bibliomania - A Study of the Victorian Penny Dreadful,? tightly limited to ten copies, and the scarce limited edition of ?Albert Schloss Bijou Almanacs 1839-1843.? Additional areas covered include, magazines & periodicals, bookbinding, book illustration, American printing, children?s, incunabula, manuscripts and much more. Found throughout this catalog are other compelling selections from categories such as limited editions, signed copies, history, literature, children?s books, military history, theology and more. Also offered are antique newspapers and ephemera, along with sheet music including Civil War-related pressings.
