The Lewis Sundries & Country Relics Museum

The three day auction event, held in Des Moines, IA will feature several superb collections including two great Iowa Treasure troves. All of the nearly 2,000 lots will be sold without reserve. The late Milford Lewis was the proprietor of Lewis Sundries, a full service drug store for many years in Allerton, a small southern Iowa town. Milford was known for never throwing away anything. After a lifetime of serving his small town, the discoveries found in his store attic and basement proved those stories to be true. The second Iowa Treasure Trove is from Fern & Varlen Carlsons Country Relics Museum in Stanhope, Iowa. The museum is a 1/2 to 2/3 scale miniature 1900s village with 12 jam packed buildings. It was named Iowas Tourism Attraction of The Year in 1991. Closed in 2003 the vast collection of country store, toys, mannequins, salesmans samples and childrens furnishings will be coming to market in several auctions, the first of which is at this Rich Penn Auction Event. Along with these two great collections will be a number of other important related collections, making this auction one of the largest auctions Penn has held in several years.
