Among the earliest examples are the 1682 printing of Keach?s ?Troposchemalogia Tropes and Figures,? Johnston?s scarce 1687 treatise ?The Assurance of Abby and Other Church-Lands in England to the Possessors,? and Fourcroy?s ?Philosophy of Chemistry or Fundamental Truths of Modern Chemical Science,? printed in 1795. Additional intriguing finds include the very rare 1841 first edition of Espy?s landmark meteorological work, ?The Philosophy of Storms,? including engraved illustrations, tables, and maps, the 1831 first edition of Whittier?s first published collection of poetry, ?Legends of New-England,? and the 1939 first American edition of T. S. Eliot?s ?Old Possum?s Book of Practical Cats.? Several private collections will be showcased. An array of titles relating to early, Civil War and later American history include the 1855 first edition of Ross? ?The Fur Hunters of the Far West - A Narrative of Adventures in the Oregon and Rocky Mountains,? produced in two volumes, Murray?s ?Historical Account of Discoveries and Travels in North America,? published in two volumes in with a folding map, and the scarce 1864 printing of ?The Report of the Special Committee on Volunteering.?
