Abell Auction Company will hold its Spring Fine Art, Antiques, 20th Century Design and Jewelry Auction on Sunday, May 19th, 2019. Live bidding begins at 10 am PST online and at the gallery.
From a prominent Ranch Santa Fe Estate, Abell will be offering a Regency style gilt-bronze mounted kingwood bureau plat, and an Erard Louis XV style gilt- bronze mounted marquetry grand piano, both signed F. Linke. These items were originally purchased in November 1969 at the catalogued auction conducted by Abell at the Hancock Park mansion of Mrs. Jean Hardison Owings.
Another highlight is by an 1860 presidential campaign flag. depicting Abraham Lincoln and his running mate, Hannibal Hamlin. This flag shows one of the few portraits of Lincoln beardless before he became president.
