This catalog presents a select arrangement of rare, antique and decorative books. Featured is a substantial private collection of works by Harlan Ellison, most of which are signed, including rare and valuable limited editions. Additional offerings contain a sizable collection of antique children?s books, decorative antique bindings, limited editions and author signatures. Antique and rare books are numerous in this catalog. Among the particularly interesting examples are the very rare Manhattan-based socialist title by Lippard, ?New York - Its Upper Ten and Lower Million,? the 1911 first edition of ?British Sports and Sportsmen ? Racing, Coursing, and Steeplechasing,? produced in two large, lavishly bound leather folio volumes, and an author-signed copy of J. Edgar Hoover?s ?Masters of Deceit - The Story of Communism in America and How to Fight It.? Several private collections will be showcased. The Harlan Ellison collection begins with early works by this often-controversial science fiction, fantasy and mystery author, most of which bear author signatures. There are also limited editions by Ellison, led by the very scarce production of ?Stalking the Nightmare,? in the original grimoire case, signed by the author and the illustrator, Steve Kirk, and limited to just 40 copies. Another collection contains antique children?s books dating to the early 1800?s and including chromolithographs, fairies, Fern Bissel Peat and Jessie Willcox Smith, early Disney titles and beyond. Found throughout this catalog are other compelling selections from categories such as medical, rare fiction, limited editions, signed copies, history, literature, travel & exploration, military history, theology and more. A private collection of vintage science fiction magazines such as ?Amazing Stories? will be sold along with rare Vietnam War-related lots including an original ?Apocalypse Now? film poster, signed by Francis Ford Coppola and lead members of the star-studded cast.
