Whistler, Photographs, Audubon, Ephemera, etc

This catalog features a variety of collectibles, antiques, ephemera and artwork. Of particular interest is a number of rare, original antique photographs by notable artists. Artwork from an original Whistler engraving and antique Audubon prints through desirable modern serigraphs will be presented. There is also a significant amount of vintage and antique ephemera cataloged individually and in groups. The original photographs lead with scenes by important names such as Grauman Marks, Wurts Brothers, and Joseph Woodson ?Pops? Whitesell. Intriguing subject matters such as New Orleans jazz musicians during performances and candid shots from the 1939-40 New York World?s Fair are captured. Artwork and collectible print examples span a considerable age range and variety. The original engraving by James Abbott McNeill Whistler portrays Arthur Haden as a child, being one of at least two works Whistler devoted to the boy. Antique hand-colored Audubon prints from c1850 are credited to J. T. Bowen. Additional antique pieces include original Aubrey Beardsley plates from 1896 issues of ?Savoy,?, hand-colored botanical and natural history engravings, and beyond. More modern specimens feature Leon Bakst serigraphs, engravings by Bernhardt Wall, and rare, limited prints from the City Canvases program in Cleveland and the Urban Walls series in Cincinnati. Further lots in the catalog present a wide array of antique furniture, collectibles and ephemera. Among the notable examples are furnishings such as a fine sideboard by Kensington. Ephemera lots cover travel, film, archery, advertising, transportation, aviation, erotica, postcards, antique maps, bonds, revenue stamps, philately, first-day covers, decorative antique letterheads and billheads, and beyond. Specific Americana items run through Lincoln, Robert E. Lee, Civil War, Franklin Pierce and periodicals. Other offerings include tobacco-related items, pharmacy collectibles, decorative wood pieces, and much more.
