Fine Art & Antiques Sessions I and II

Simpson Galleries will be hosting a wonderful collection of fine art and antiques auction. Among the featured items in this auction are some of the rarest and most sought after Texas documents detailing medical history of early epidemics such as Spanish Flu, a doctor’s account of how the virus was handled. This collection belonged to a doctor who sought out this content and collected hundreds of pieces of Texas history. Among some of the documents are items written and signed by Sam Houston, the first elected president of the Republic of Texas; as well as Dr. Ashbel Smith, the first Surgeon General for the Army of the Republic of Texas. Simpson Galleries is also offering a lifetime collection of rare and complicated clocks and timepieces, featuring a very important tall case clock by Peter Stretch, circa 1705. Another highlight of this collection is an early 20th century Handel table lamp with an unusual Bradley & Hubbard slag glass and painted metal shade. Our “Fine Art” selection offers a very wide range of quality works by artists such as Porfirio Salinas, Frederic Remington, Édouard Cortès, Dorothy Hood, François Gall, Charles Russell, Peter Hurd, Henriette Wyeth, Mitchell Johnson, Gary Niblett, Frank Tenney Johnson, and Gerald “G. Harvey” Jones. With over a million dollars in estimated value, we are sure that there is something for everyone. Our specialists have curated the finest selection of French, English, and American furniture spanning centuries; from the 17th century to the modern and contemporary. Some of the items include an Austrian gilt bronze and enamel mounted cabinet-on-stand, Vienna, late 19th century; and a Dutch neoclassical gilt brass mounted flame mahogany linen press, late 18th/early 19th century. Please join us for preview “by appointment” the week of September 14th - 19th between the hours of 10 am and 5 pm or visit us on the web for a virtual preview at www.SimpsonGalleries.com
