HARRIET BULL TRUST MARBLEHEAD ESTATE AUCTION

HARRIET BROWN BULL TRUST The Thomas Gerry House aka "The Hearth and Eagle" Built by Samuel Goodwin c1727 From the front steps one can see the waves crash behind the gardens of the front yard, hear the gulls mew, the bell buoy ring as salt air wraps around one's nose. Today we share this special setting with shoreman William Peach Brown (1780-1838) son of Captain John Brown (Privateer during the American Revolution) who purchased the house in 1832. For (5) succeeding generations this home has been passed down through one family. And who's members include a Captain of great fishing schooners, a Professor of Mathamatics, a Steamboat owner in the Pacific Northwest, a Nurse, Boat Builders, a Naval Architect, an Art Teacher as well as those, integral to the staffing of Marblehead's Devereux House (where Marblehead Pottery began). The magical part is that its contents survive nearly "in toto" and having been recently pulled from Chinese camphor chests, drawers and closet. The contents of which include many family heirlooms, furniture and objects of virtue, representative of the China Trade, the early settlement of the Pacific Northwest, (19th c) paintings of Boston Harbor, Beacon Hill, (19th c) costumes, Victorian jewelry, coins and currency, Civil War photographs and militaria, early dementional Valentine Cards, toys and games, books many illustrated by Rackham, photographs and into the turn of the (20th c) with a collection of yatching originals by Willard B. Jackson, and of course Chelsea ships clocks, Compasses, early Marblehead pottery, Big Game Fishing rods and reels etc etc etc. And many of which discovered for the first time in generations.
