Christie’s presents Let There Be Light, an online-only auction featuring lighting through the centuries. The auction promises an intriguing walk through history and a demonstration of the key role of lighting across periods and regions. Made in fine and precious materials and executed in all manner of techniques, the sale showcases an expansive array of chandeliers, candlesticks, lanterns, wall lights and more. The cross-category auction features contributions from the 18th-century and 19th-century European courts, including Russian and Swedish crystal and gilt-bronze chandeliers and an elegant pair of Louis XV and Louis XVI ormolu candlesticks. Other highlights include innovative Industrialist pieces from the late 19th century as well as modern and contemporary fixtures by great 20th-century British names such as Colefax & Fowler, Vaughan, Robert Kime and Soane. NHS Charity Donations from Let There Be Light We are delighted to announce that Vaughan, Colefax & Fowler, Soane, Robert Kime and Jamb are generously donating a percentage of the proceeds from their lots consigned to this sale to NHS Charities Together (registered charity no. 1186569).
