This large literary auction will include a broad range of books and ephemera items from area estates and consignments. The catalog includes 450 lots, offering approximately 5,000 volumes plus ephemera, including adult and children's fiction, and literary reference. The books range from modern to antique and include many signed first editions.
Highlights of this auction include a first edition, second state printing of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" and other early and first printing Oz books from a private collection. Other important children's books include early and first printings of titles such as "English Fairy Tales" (Rackham illustrations), "Anne of Green Gables", "The Adventures of Uncle Lubin", "Monster-Land", and many others.
Antique adult first and early printings include titles by Mark Twain, Jules Verne and a first edition copy of "Pygmalion" by George Bernard Shaw. In addition to the antique literature, we will offer a large private collection of important signed and/or first edition printings of modern fiction. This collection includes Pulitzer and Nobel Prize winners as well as a nearly complete assembly of signed first edition copies of every Booker Prize winner since the award's inception in 1969.
Literary reference works include titles such as Sabin's "Books Relating to America" in two volumes and the Oxford English Dictionary, compact edition in two volumes.
