American Indian & Western Art

Over 700 lots of American Indian, Western and Ethnographic art. Included in this auction are pieces from the collections of Daniel C. Beard, founder of the Boy Scouts of America, and paintings by Western artist Ray Swanson. A rare 1830s Seminole sash collected by George W. Martin (1812-189_?) during the second Seminole War; a Navajo six-panel Germantown weaving; and a Shoshone pipe tomahawk collected by Oscar Madden Reece (1842-1891) are among the highlights of the sale. Also included are a grouping of Eskimo carved soapstone figures; an Apache figural olla; photographs by E.S. Curtis and Roland Reed; and early Arapaho and Cheyenne beaded tobacco bags.
