The collection features 20th Century Art prints and books produced by Mourlot, Paris, the world renowned print shop famous for the vast number of artists that have made prints with the studio, and their reputation for quality and design. Rare Posters presents early exhibition posters, advertisements, rare art books, periodicals, and rare signed limited edition prints. Works in the collection include artwork by Chagall, Picasso, Matisse, Braque, Miro, Le Corbusier, Dubuffet as well as Calder, Moore, Giacometti, Kandinsky, and many more. With pieces dating back to 1938 the collection focus is on modern and contemporary art, highlighting prominent artworks that were part of large exhibitions and art events. Mourlot Studios, a commercial print shop, has been in operation since 1852 owned and operated by the Mourlot Family located in Paris, France. In the 1920's, production was dedicated to printing fine art lithography under the direction of Fernand Mourlot, and later expanded to include Verve, a periodical art review magazine. Over the years it has been known as Imprimerie Mourlot, Mourlot Freres and Atelier Mourlot. Owner of Rare Posters, Bernard Rougerie has been tailoring his comprehensive collection of fine art museum and exhibition posters and prints, servicing all levels of the industry from individual collectors to big box retailers.
