Art Deco and the Machine Age +
Neue Auctions November 12 Online Auction features the Louis DiSanto Collection of Art Deco and Machine Age furnishings and decorative arts; plus selections from local estates and collections. The DiSanto Collection of approximately 100 lots will make up the first half of the auction and sets the tone for the sale with a streamlined look.
Assembled over the last 50 years on acquisition trips across the country from San Francisco, California to Miami, Florida, DiSanto and his partner Wil Weakland lovingly restored many of the pieces and artfully displayed them in their Aurora, Ohio home. Purchases were made from top dealers and augmented with astute flea market and antiques show finds over the years. After concluding it was time for a new direction, the pair decided to offer the collection en masse through Neue Auctions.
Examples of Machine Age furniture featuring tubular chromed steel and black leather are abundant, with by a collection of colorful ceramics and decorative arts including posters, Bauhaus ceramics, Clarice Cliff, and a Louis Wain Futurist Cat Spill Vase. Neue will also offer a work by master goldsmith, jeweler, artist, and craftsman John Paul Miller, in the form of a 18K yellow gold and and tanzanite stylized tree form pendant brooch, with a handful of works by colleagues Jim Mazurkiewicz and Alex Sepkus.
