Firearms and Early Militaria
The auction includes early longarms and African art and militaria from the Wallace Gusler collection, plus outstanding flintlock longarms and pistols from several other consignors. There are a number of engraved powder horns, including two excellent French and Indian War horns, one belonging to Moses Walcut and the other outlining Forbes' Trail from New York to Fort Pitt, showing all extant forts along the way.
Civil War material includes several archives and firearms from members of the Dyer family who served in both the Civil War and later Indian Wars. Included are items associated with Daniel B. Dyer, who became an Indian Agent at the Quapaw Agency, and later speculated in western real estate, became involved in politics and many other enterprises from Georgia to Kansas to Oklahoma Territory.
Besides firearms from flintlocks to World War II, there are a number of Remington-Beals revolvers from the Charles Schif collection. Also of Civil War vintage is a 15th Army Corps "Forty Rounds" guidon. World War II vintage materials include several items associated with Hermann Goering, such as coasters, serving dishes, a shot glass and a vase with the Goering family crest. There is also a Field Marshal's cap similar to one worn by Goering. Several other soldier "bring-backs" are included with the WWII material.
