Lalique and Perfume Presentations Auction

On Saturday, November 1st, perfume collectors and Lalique enthusiasts will be treated to an extraordinary event, as Nicholas M. Dawes and Ken Leach combine their enormous experience into an auction of Lalique Glass and Perfume Presentations, the first of its type ever offered.

Over four hundred lots, representing the diversity of Rene Lalique's remarkable output and featuring designs from later periods. Highlighting the offerings is a strong selection of vases in clear, opalescent and colored glass, notably a fine electric blue "Perruches" and a collection of "Ronces" and "Formose" vases in colors. Three "Suzanne" statuettes and a "Thais;" four original window panels from the 1913 New York Coty Building; car mascots; drawings; jewelry; seals; ashtrays; table items; and a remarkable Lalique gallery chair from 1890.
Highlighting the Rene Lalique offerings this year is a collection of about eighty perfume bottles and dressing table items, assembled by a private collector over twenty years ago and kept in storage until this auction. Estimates in the Lalique perfume bottles range from less than $100.00 to over $10,000.00.

The term 'Perfume Presentations' has been used by the American Fragrance industry since the late 19th century. Mr. Leach's auction is a single owner sale, comprising one of this country's leading private collections, composed of over 300 items. All of the principal manufacturers are represented in this collection, which excels in condition, rarity and comprehensiveness, representing the best fragrance designs of the golden age of perfume presentation during the inter-war years, and many post-war rarities. Numerous bottles never before seen at auction, including figural designs by Baccarat, Viard, and Depinoix. Offered are Guerlain, Arden Schiaparelli and other perfumers' bottles in original boxes, as well as 18th and 19th century scents, and colorful Art Deco Czechoslovakian vanity bottles.
