Two-Day Fine Estate Auction

Our October Estate Auction, will include furniture represented by virtually every major style and country, including the Louis XV, Louis XVI, Regence', Empire and provincial styles of France, highlighted by a superb pair of French Empire fruitwood fauteuils, circa 1810, a good pair of Restauation Honduras mahogany fauteils, circa 1830, and a fine chinoserie decorated upright piano, signed Bittner, Paris, circa 188. The Empire, Regency, Victorian, Chippendale and Georgian styles of England include an Anglo-Indian hardwood two-door display cabinet on stand, circa 1880, an oversized Sheraton style mahogany circular dining table, 84 inch diameter, a Regency gilt decorated papier mache' pole screen, circa 1830, a handsome oak bureau bookcase, circa 1890, a George III mahogany demi-lune foldover game table, stamped "J. Dooly & Sons" and a good late Georgian oak wardrobe converted from a bacon cupboard ; a variety of special furniture is also featured, including a scarce polished bronze bank lobby table - 16 feet in length, as well as a large and impressive wrought-iron marble top serpentine fronted console with a 128 inch length . Showcased will be an excellent array of 18th, 19th and 20th century paintings, watercolors, drawings, lithographs and other fine art, including a scarce and desirable work of a Texas Hill Country Bluebonnet scene by Julian Onderdonk - which is accompanied by a letter written by the artist in 1914, a fine watercolor by Eugene Galien-Laloue, an oil by Aaron Draper Shattuck, a good example of an oil on board by Louisiana folk artist Clementine Hunter, an oil on panel of a table still life by Johan Laurents Jensen, as well as drawings by Thomas Sully, Everett Shinn and others . Additionally featured will be a superb group of 19th & 20th century Meissen figures, a fine pair of Satsuma Meiji period vases converted to lamps, an early Southeast Asian bronze head of a deity, a large Chinese pierce-carved serpentine jade incense burner, a 47-piece Steuben crystal stemware set in the scarce "Air Bubble" pattern, and a 90-piece Georg Jensen sterling flatware service for ten in the "Pyramid" pattern. Not to be overlooked is a good collection of rifles, shotguns and handguns, including an excellent group of antique military and dueling pistols. Also to be offered is a collection of estate and designer jewelry. Finally, an extensive selection of estate and new Oriental rugs and tapestries will also be included.
