FINE ART, SILVER, JEWELRY & DECORATIONS

Gray?s March 6 Auction includes a wonderful collection of Fine Art, Sterling Silver, Jewelry and Decorative Art objects. One highlight from the sale is a suite of vintage hand-painted wallpaper panels in the "Decor Eden" pattern, ca. 1912, designed by Fuchs and produced by Defosse, Paris, from the Warren Packard Mansion in Lakewood, NY. Also featured is a spectacular enameled gold eagle insignia believed to have belonged to American Revolutionary War hero, Thaddeus Kosciuszko. The medallion is one of only 140 original eagles designed by Major Pierre L'Enfant and produced by Duval & Francastle, Paris, for inaugural members of the Society of the Cincinnati in 1784. Fine art standouts in the auction include a fantastic winter landscape painted by George Durrie (1820-1863) and a life-size original marble sculpture by William Calder Marshall (1813-1894) entitled, Country Girl.
