Millea Bros. proudly presents Apfelicious! • The Iris Apfel Sale, a special three-day, single-owner auction celebrating the life and legacy of Iris Apfel — style icon, tastemaker, and fashion-world firecracker. As the final trove from her personal collection, the sale includes the remaining contents of her two New York City apartments, her Palm Beach residence, and several personal storage units. Apfel’s legacy comes vividly to life in this concluding chapter of her remarkable collection. On offer is a dazzling mix of vintage and contemporary fashion, costume jewelry, couture, and accessories, alongside an eclectic array of furnishings, artwork, and decorative objects. Highlights include Iris’s collections of Native American clothing, accessories, and Kachina dolls; Chinese textiles ranging from rank badges to robes and fans (many exhibited at the Newark Museum’s Dragon Threads, 1992); French and Continental furniture and decorative arts; Venetian hand-painted furniture and porcelains; Haitian art; Northwest Coast masks and textiles; and bolts of sumptuous Old World Weavers fabrics and trims. Also featured are textiles, area rugs, and pillows, together with portraits, memorabilia, and even Iris-branded merchandise. Many of the fashion pieces were famously exhibited in Rara Avis: Selections from the Iris Barrel Apfel Collection at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 2005–06. The auction is a vibrant, Apfelicious homage to Iris’s signature "more is more" aesthetic. From statement jewelry to mod chairs, feathered frocks to leopard-print throws, every item reflects her joyful disregard for convention and her lifelong passion for mixing high and low, old and new, wild and refined.
