The sale opens with property from prominent and early American collectors in New York and Philadelphia, including the Astor, Morgan, Stotesbury, and Scott Families. Other offerings include fine Queen Anne, Chippendale, and Federal furniture and portraiture from New England to the Southern States. There is an especially strong group of American Aesthetic Movement silver, Marine paintings, and Chinese Export porcelain. Of special historical note is a pocket watch reputedly belonging to the Marquis de Lafayette. Concluding the auction is an array of folk carvings including a tobacconist figure of attributed to Thomas V. Brooks, weathervanes, and likenesses by William Matthew Prior and Ammi Phillips.
