Antique & Modern Jewellery
This month?s auction of Antique & Modern Jewellery features a unique 18th century Russian diamond, emerald, ruby and enamelled cross (lot 352).
This beautiful jewel dating from circa 1725 reputably formed part of the renowned Romanov Jewellery collection and was gifted by Czar Nicolas himself to the French actress of the day, Jeanne Sylvane Arnauld Plessy who performed at the French theatre in St Petersburg from the mid 1840?s-1855, later becoming part of the Foulon de Vaux collection.
Our back cover lots offer two good examples of Victorian jewellery including a mid-19th century gold and ruby bangle with scrolling ribbon panel (lot361) and a later 19th century 18ct gold and seed pearl floral fringe necklace (lot 41).
The auction also features a variety of show stopper diamonds including a 4.04ct brilliant cut diamond single stone ring as one of the highlights (lot 180). Also worth noting an attractive pair of diamond ear pendants (lot 179) and a delicate late 1930?s diamond cocktail ring of 2cts (lot 161).
For something a little more unusual we have two delicate jade butterfly brooches (lot 85 & 97).
In contrast for those with a fondness of modern designer jewellery, the sale boasts an array of Chopard Happy Diamond pieces (lot 240 & 238), For those drawn more towards Tiffany we have a pair of platinum ?Victoria? diamond ear studs (lot 272) and an ever popular Elsa Peretti 18ct gold heart pendant (lot 273).
