Elizabeth Bates Estate On Premises Auction

For nearly 40 years, Elizabeth and Donald Bates operated Lib & Don's Antiques in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. They were known from Florida to Penn. as sellers of quality items. Their residence holds a treasure trove of Handel, Pairpoint Puffy and similar lamps as well as a large collection of Nippon & Dresden, miniature portraits, figurines, a Belter Sofa, fine ornate marble top tables, as well as an 1863 Louisiana Civil War Muster Roll for Soldiers of African Descent. The Bates collected cranberry glass, art glass, Capo Di Monte, and all sorts of interesting things. When Lib moved to Seymour, she brought with her the best of the best. When they closed their shop in 1992, going into semi-retirement, they continued doing shows as long as their health permitted. Mr. Bates passed away in 1994, Mrs. Bates passed away this summer at the age of 92. She was still collecting until close to the end of her life. If you like pretty, ornate, fancy glassware, furniture and accessories, you will love this. Seymour is a charming little town just outside of Knoxville, at the foothills of the Smokey Mountains. The leaf season will be in full colors making this an opportune time to visit Eastern Tennessee. We look forward to seeing you at this outstanding auction. A local barbeque company is setting up a smoker and there will be good food on site for this auction. Please feel free to call or email with any questions you may have.
