Antique & Modern Jewellery

Fittingly, our sapphires this September are truly lovely. The birthstone for this month is abundant on plate two. Highlights include lot 102, a sapphire and diamond cluster ring offered at £4,000-6,000, and lot 83, a diamond and sapphire ?toi et moi? ring estimated at £1,500-2,000. Lot 17 is a Burmese sapphire and diamond dress ring, accompanied with a report from the British Gemmological Institute stating that the stone has no signs of thermal treatment. This ring has the estimate of £1,000-1,500. Our designer plates display a host of modern pieces, ranging in styles and designs. As ever, we are offering examples by Cartier, Bulgari, Gucci and Tiffany & Co. A standout piece is lot 296, a mid-20th Century gold bracelet by Georg Jensen, estimated at £460-660. Also, lot 285 is a pair of striking enamel diamond and ruby ear studs by Cartier. Part of the Le-Baiser-duDragon collection, they will be offered at £2,500-3500. Finally, plate 9 features lot 674, a Belle Epoque Boucheron vase and cover. This vase, comprised of solid lapis lazuli is perfectly complemented by the stylistic fl oral swags adorning it. Lapis lazuli is a rock consisting mainly of lazurite, calcite, and pyrite, giving it its unique cobalt colour and glinting metallic flecks. This finely crafted piece has an estimate of £3,000-4,000.
