Important Historical Clothing, Film and Music

The sale includes important lots from the collection of MADAME TUSSAUDS, LONDON include a three-piece suit and Fedora owned and worn by WINSTON CHURCHILL, dress owned and worn by QUEEN VICTORIA, rare garter dress worn by CHARLES X and identical wedding dresses, trains and tiaras commissioned by Madame Tussauds for their waxwork figures of the then Hon. Diana Spencer, Sarah Ferguson and Sophie Rhys Jones.
Each of the dresses was designed alongside the original and is identical in every way. Of course the most notable is the one worn by the late PRINCESS OF WALES. Diana tried on this dress the morning of her wedding to Prince Charles on 29th July 1981. The sale also includes a turquoise dress worn as a Debutante by Diana and given by her to Tussauds, which was used on her first waxwork after the royal engagement. Together with a VICTOR EDELSTEIN couture gown identical to the one favoured by Diana and worn on several occasions during 1989.
Other lots include a selection of MARILYN MONROE items – signed contracts, a wonderful signed sepia-portrait, a Pucci dress, stilettos and jewellery all owned and worn by the voluptuous star. A rare waistcoat worn by JAMES DEAN in the film ‘Giant’ with it’s original Warner Brothers wardrobe label together with a contract for his appearance in the same film. A shirt worn by PETER SELLERS as Inspector Clouseau in ‘The Pink Panther’ and much more.
The sale of course includes important music lots such as the original artwork by graphic designer John Pasche for the ROLLING STONES now ubiquitous ‘Tongue’ logo, several ELVIS PRESLEY personally owned items such as a Hot Dog machine, tie pins and a diamond ring given to his beloved mother Gladys. A rare mint collection of BEATLES limited edition Genesis publications, a wonderful collection of caricatures by JOHN LENNON on a theatre seating plan and the well-known tracksuit worn by him when he and Yoko famously cut off their hair whilst staying in Denmark in 1970.
