Guccione's Golden Girls

What is it about an attractive woman that turns an ordinary man into a creative whirlwind? For Bob Guccione, attractive women ultimately lead him to a successful life. In 1965, Guccione was nothing more than a struggling artist with an entrepreneurial imagination. Yet it was his admiration for the beauty of the female form that prompted him to start a magazine called Penthouse. Due to his lack of resources, Guccione personally photographed most of the models for the magazine's early issues. Although he had no professional training, Guccione applied his knowledge of painting to his photography, establishing the diffused, soft focus look that would become one of the trademarks of the magazine's pictorials. The women that were featured in the magazine became known as Guccione's Golden Girls and they served as muses for not only him but invoked lust in men worldwide that received the publication. One of the most alluring of all Guccione's Golden Girls was Corrine Alphen. She had a dazzling smile, a great personality, and a relaxed naturalness in front of the camera that seemed to set the standard for beauty in the 1980's. As a tribute, Filthy Gorgeous Media has dedicated this auction not only to Corinne Alphen but to all of the beautiful women who have been accredited with the honor of being Guccione's Golden Girls.
