Katherine Williams Estate Auction

Treadway Gallery is proud to announce The Katherine Williams Estate auction on January 6th and 7th, 2006, at the Starlite Ballroon in Cincinnati, Ohio. This sale features the lifetime estate of Katherine Williams, a prominent collector from the Chicago area along with select pieces from Cincinnati homes. The William’s estate consists of over 500 dolls, doll clothing, quilts, buggies, trunks, furniture and houses. Dolls include Simon and Halbig, Kestner, Jumeau, Armand Marseille, China Heads, Dressel, Handwerck, Kley and Hahn, Emma Clear’s, Schoenae & Hoffmeister, Martha Chase, Lenci, Chad Valley, Averille and many other early French and German bisque, paper maché and wax dolls. There will also be a good selection of Victorian/Eastlake furniture including parlor and dining sets, numerous display cases, carved bedroom set, oak bookcases and filing cabinets. Other notable items from the estate are costume jewelry, rugs, toys and fine silver. Ceramic collectors have an opportunity to buy Rookwood, Teco, Weller, Roseville, Wheatley and Peters and Reed. European Pottery will include Royal Doulton, Meissen and Moorcroft. Another highlight of the ceramic selection are the numerous examples of Parian Ware vases and figurines from both American and European makers, an outstanding collection of over 90 pieces. There is a group of fine silver featuring an extensive service of Whiting Louis XIV flatware and Gorham serving bowls. Glass in this sale includes a group of Classic pattern glass featuring a set of eleven rare “cupid’s hunt” sauce dishes along with a collection of 1950s Erickson glass. Graphics include Emma Mendenhall and numerous works by H.H. Wessel, both well-known Cincinnati artists. A collection of works by Ed Volkert are included in this sale, all fresh from the original owner. There will also be a good selection of American and European oil paintings. All items will sell without reserve, a 10% Buyer’s Premium will be added to all sales, Internet bidders are subject to 15% Buyers Premium.
