A Gentleman's Library: Collectibles
Living on a castle ? the private library of a noble man on Shambally Castle, once the largest house built by the noted English architect John Nash in the Irish Clogheen is one of the most outstanding pieces of the auction. The library is still filled with some old books, some of which are covered in vellum and that carry you into the past lives of the country noblesse of the 19th century.
The auction offers further collector?s pieces and curiosities? a pair of Indian ivory dolls, a vintage composition torso as a medical aid, a unicorn figure, a carousel lion, a life-size figure of a London Beefeater Gin mascot as well as the taxidermy of a buffalo head are evidences of a widely travelled lord of the castle.
