This auction features PCGS certified Carson City silver dollars. Virtually all rare coins offered are in beautiful brilliant uncirculated condition - remarkable considering that most Carson City coinage is over 130 years old! The Morgan Silver Dollar series continues to be one of the most collected coins in the world. The Carson City silver dollar is perhaps the most storied rare coin in the series, conjuring colorful characters, precipitated by economic politics and forgotten until discovered and auctioned by the US Government Services Administration (GSA) under President Nixon. Discovered in 1859, the Comstock Lode's silver flowed into the U.S. Treasury and spawned the famous Morgan silver dollar. During its heyday, the Comstock Lode was the source of silver for four different branch mints producing Morgan Silver Dollars - Philadelphia, New Orleans, San Francisco and Carson City. The Comstock Lode provided silver for decades. Secondly, a small group of key date NGC certified coins are offered in reasonable condition for the collector that wants an affordable ?rare date example.? Sought after rare coins such as the 1909-S VDB Lincoln Penny, 1932-D Washington Quarter and 1916-D Mercury Dime.
