Paintings of the 16th - 20th Century

This summer auction focuses on paintings from the 16th to 20th centuries. The wide range of subjects includes a number of finely painted portraits, among them a portrait of the young Princess Pauline of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach, captured by the painter Elise Hugel in the mid-19th century. Also particularly striking is a portrait of a lady by the sought-after Baroque painter Constantijn Netscher, as well as an early-Romantic portrait of Louise von Kanitz from the circle of Franz Gerhard von Kügelgen. Additional noteworthy highlights include a Biedermeier still life with fruits by Josef Lauer - inspired by the tradition of old masterpieces, an atmospheric cityscape by master painter Bartolomeus-Johannes van Hove, and a charming portrait of a young girl by Carl von Marr.
