Watches: Wristwatches of the 60s & 70s

Like most of the fashions throughout the 60 and 70s, there is nothing shy or reserved about the wristwatches of the time. These are bold watches, unafraid to make a statement. Highlights of this wonderful overview of two decades? worth of watches include a Movado Kingmatic Sub Sea wristwatch from c.1960, a fabulously stylish watch; a gold Audemars Piguet ?Disco Volante?, or ?flying saucer? as these watches were nicknamed, from the round, unconventional-looking case and dial, dating from c.1963; and a Heuer Monaco chronograph, ref. 73633 c.1970, one of the most recognizable watches of the 20th century. This example is particularly eye-catching, with a blue dial, red hands, and a red calfskin leather strap.
