Highlighting the MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY section is an important oil on canvas, Rote Lieber, 1929, by Oskar Schlemmer (lot 1034). Also featured are works by Maurice de Vlaminck (lot 1030), Christo (lot 1059), Jannis Spyropoulos (lot 1060), Enrico Donati (lots 1041, 1042), Marie Laurencin (lots 1025,1027), Louis Valtat (lots 1029, 1032, 1033), Paul Aizpiri (lot 1037), Salvador Dali (lot 1006), Harry Bertoia (lot 1050), Paul Jenkins (lots 1057, 1058), Allan Houser (lots 1022, 1023, 1024), Bryan Hunt (lot 1062), Diego Rivera (Lot 1009), Daniel Bottero (lots 1013, 1014), and Natvar Bhavsar (lot 1066). EUROPEAN ART is highlighted by an early Fauvist landscape, Un beau matin d’ete, 1905, by Henri Matisse (lot 1121). Also offered are works by Auguste Rodin (lot 1118), Jean Pougny (lot 1100), Jean Dufy (lot 1137), Josef Munsch (lot 1083), and Max Liebermann (lots 1122-1131). AMERICAN ART features Willows in Winter by Ernest Lawson (lot 1219) and Late Afternoon in the Hills by Charles Ephraim Burchfield (lot 1230).
