Royka's Memorial Day Weekend Antique & Fine Art Auction to be held Sunday, May 28 at 3pm at the Train Depot in Lexington, MA will offer many historically important items fresh to the market. An eagle removed from the East Room of the White House during the 1902 restoration is a featured item estimated at $3,000-$5,000. Other historically important items include the signed commission by John Hancock for Capt. Thomas Thompson for the Continental Navy Ship the Raleigh built in Portsmouth, N.H. Also from Capt. Thomas Thompson are captured George Rex bags taken from a British Navy ship. From the estate of the Alexander Bullock (Governor of Massachusetts from 1866-1868) are two pencils made by Henry David Thoreau, a pen holder made from a rail split by Abraham Lincoln and two half plate ambrotypes of the William Mason trains The Phantom & The Nymph. A stunning group of weathervanes, early furnishings and fine art including Picasso's complete portfolio of the 29 Imaginary Portraits will make for an exciting auction.
