Inaccurate description and slow shipping
I won a piece at auction and was invoiced and paid immediately. I reached out after 2 weeks to see why I had not heard from them or received the piece. They sent me a curt reply that they had packed it and would ship it within “a few business days.” That was 9 business days before they did. I reached out for information during that time a received no message back. The piece finally came and it is not as described, it has a crease down the center and noticeable staple holes. I’m very disappointed in the quality. Poor description and poor customer service, I will not bid in their auctions again.

The item listed was not the item received. I contacted them and returned the item.
Dane used a catalog photo of the item not the actual item they were auctioning. I would verify with them before bidding on an item.

What you saw on the listing is what we shipped out. There is nothing we could have possibly done to prevent this review. they used a bait and switch advertising scheme
showed a photo of the item for sale that was a specific artist proof of the print-shipped a ordinary print run item-claimed the photo wasnt supposed to be the item for sale-how poor a performance is that?

Grifters …. a horrible experience
Horrible. I would not do business with these grifters. They advertised the piece in 'sculptures' and it is actually an out of focus litograph. I tried to return the piece, and they refused the package. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE THIEVES.

Auction house will not ship a different item "due to unforeseen circumstances." No "why" provided.
Bid with caution. The auction house may decide not to send you the item and give a vague reason.

Shipping cost excessive!
I purchase a lot of art from the states and I was shocked at the shipping cost they charged to post the UK. I have has framed items delivered at half the cost. The item was a unframed print approximately 12x8 inches and was charged $140. when I complained, I was told labour and packing cost are expensive in the States. If your buying from these check the shipping cost before you bid.

Poor description of item and even worse, curator is clueless!
The poster listed stated it was an original movie poster. The item has no credits or printing credits. When I called to question this because the movie poster was originally printed in 1936 and has these credits on them. The curator was clueless but said he would contact the consigner. The information I received was absolutely worthless! The poster was printed in the 1950’s and thus not an original it a reprint. This was NOT listed in the description! But the poster did come with a worthless piece of paper stating it is a “Vintage Poster” and it is “From the rare limited edition”. Again, NOT in the description and what does it mean! Definitely not worth the paper it is printed on! Would really like to return it and get my money fully refunded (I personally feel they should pay for shipping it back as well.). Regardless, I would not trust descriptions of their items based the information given.

Beware
Bid $300 for what seemed to be listed as a limited edition seriagraph of Magritte’s Empire of Light. The minimum bid was $300. Paid $452.50 with the buyers premium, s & h. Received a matted poster of this work. Poster sells for $24.95 at MoMA. A certificate of authenticity was glued to the matting. The poster itself had slipped down inside the matting. At the frame shop, we opened the tightly glued matting. The bottom of this picture clearly showed “MoMA”, info on Magritte and this work, as found on the $25 poster. Dane instructed me to return it, upon receipt they will refund my money. Item will be shipped back tomorrow. I hope the refund is really given.

They DO NOT list their items truthfully!
The item was listed as an original piece with a COA from the artists Studio. The piece was ACTUALLY part of an Edition, and in fact had NO COA from the studio. When I asked about the missing COA I was promised one could be made as they worked very closely with Mr. Brainwash and his representatives, so I went ahead and had the piece framed. Then I was told they could not and would not secure a COA so all I could do is return the piece for a refund. I was already out the cost of the frame and the overpriced piece of art that WAS NOT an original, and DID NOT have a COA. Buyer beware, they LIE on their auction listings to inflate the worth of their pieces! Correspondence with them often took several emails over many weeks, and follow up phone calls. Do not do business with Dane Fine Arts!

I'm sorry to hear you had less than a fully satisfactory experience with us as we always strive to please our customers. In this instance, purchased a piece that had a minor listing error-under certifications we accidently listed the piece came with a certificate of authenticity from our gallery and the artist's studio. We provided with a certificate of authenticity from our gallery but did not have one in our records from the artist's studio. We regularly deal with this artist and have received our listed items directly from the artist's personal studio. Sometimes the studio provides us with certificates of authenticity, other times not-it's a random process whereby we're even unsure when we'll receive such documentation. However, all works by this artist come with his DNA certified thumb print on the back. If this is not enough, our reputation in the industry of over 30 years combined with our relationship with the artist makes any certificate of authenticity from our gallery as authentic as if they came from Mr. Brainwash himself. When phoned our gallery with his issue we tried our best to right this wrong. We not only offered a full 100 % refund, but a free framing job, and a 5 % buyers premium in return for any inconvenienced caused. This was not acceptable with as he clearly had his mind made before he placed the call. We want all of our customers to be happy with their purchases.
