Since February 2018, we have been running our KUNST & DESIGN AUKTIONSHAUS SCHOPS TUROWSKI in Krefeld with great success. As art sellers and auctioneers, we can look back on many years of experience in the areas of antiques, art and design. Since 2009 we owned the established 'Kunst- und Auktionshaus Herr' in Cologne, which we sold to a large Scandinavian auction house at the end of 2014.
Already during our time in Cologne, we attracted attention on the international art market and auctioned, among other things, exclusive bronzes by Claude Lalanne, rare ceramics by Lucie Rie and Beate Kuhn, glass objects by Pablo Picasso and sought-after designer furniture and objects, some at world record prices.
In Krefeld, we were not only able to build on this success rate, but also to increase it. With our versatile range, our very high sales quotas of over 80 percent and extremely successful individual surcharges, we offer our customers an attractive platform for the intermediation of art, applied art and design on the international market.
Our auction house is centrally located in the city of Krefeld. In the 400 square meter, loft-like and bright rooms of a former textile design studio, auctions take place twice a year, for which a high-quality print catalog is published. We are represented online on LiveAuctioneers and other leading international auction platforms and therefore reach worldwide presence.
Since March 2024, Kunst & Design Auktionshaus Schops Turowski is part of Quittenbaum Kunstauktionen GmbH.

My experience with Kunst & Design Auktionhaus
Overall I was satisfied with my purchase experience with K & D. The only disappointment with the item is that there was more usage wear on the vase I purchased than what was reflected in the photos. I was bidding from overseas, so I was not able to view the item in person. I probably would have bid on the item regardless of the wear, but I probably wouldn't have bid as high as I did, The staff and all of my contact with K & D was excellent. The staff is extremely courteous and helpful. The item was packed well for shipment and arrived safe and sound to the New York City where I reside. I would bid again with K & D.

no opportunity of right of withdrawal
I bought a marble vase that apparentely seemed to be sane, no defects were mentioned in the description which also indicated the presence of the original box, so it looked accurate. Therefore the vase was delivered in the original damage-proof packaging but arrived completely damaged. We asked the auctioneer and they answered that it showed signs of stress already at the time of sale but that the fault was attributable to the poor transporter as the vibrations or the difference in internal and external temperatures would have made the cracks open in an inexorable and irreparable way. We asked to be able to exercise the right of withdrawal as the purchase had been made via the internet and the response was that the exhibition was open before the sale and that we could have seen it before so they do not accept the return (please note I live in Italy and they are in Germany). This is foolish and outlawed, and especially a seriously injured item should not be offered for sale. Nonsense reply, commercially and intellectually; difficult to establish a working relationship, it was humiliating.
