Foremost among his other achievements in Congress were support of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the creation of Medicare and Medicaid, and direct participation in the Camp David Accords seeking peace between Israel and the Arab States.
After leaving Congress, Wolff remained committed to Asian relations, serving as President of the International Trade and Development Agency and acting as Director of the Pacific Community Institute at Touro College. From 1987 until 2007 he was a Director of the Griffon Corporation.
In recognition of his tireless work, Representative Wolff received the World Peace Prize in 2010 and the Congressional Gold Medal in 2014 for his work with the Civil Air Patrol during World War II. In 2020, the Oyster Bay National Wildlife Refuge was renamed the Congressman Lester Wolff Oyster Bay National Wildlife Refuge.
At his home in East Norwich, NY, Wolff displayed an array of Asian fine and decorative arts including painted scrolls, floor screens, a pair of carved doors, furniture, devotional sculptures, ceremonial objects, and much more. On August 7th, 2021 Roland Auctions NY is honored to present several hundred selections at auction, in a single owner sale, celebrating the life and collection of Congressman Wolff.
