Sight: 23 3/4 x 30 1/4 inches.
This work is a copy of Constable's Glebe Farm. Four versions of this scene were painted by Constable circa 1825-1830 , and the work, with some variations, was also the basis for an engraving in his series English Landscapes, in collaboration with David Lucas. The cottage depicted was the home of one of Constable's friends and patrons, Dr. Fisher, who was the Bishop of Salisbury.
Provenance: From the Collection of Mr. E. W. Edwards, a Cincinnati businessman and patron of the arts;
From thence descended in the family.
