Karen Karnes (1925, USA)
Wood-fired Stoneware; ht. 14, wd. 12 in.
These two works are exceptional examples of Karen Karnes facility with clay. The large majestic vase alongside is a trophy to Karnes' strength of form enlivened by the exaggerated and rhythmic throwing rings. The tulip vase above shows her modernist sense of invention.
