Lot 2006 Details

Description
Standing papier mache figure of peasant woman on square wood base. Fixed glass blue eyes and jointed jaw. Composite body with open back and mechanical insert. In period clothing with pantalons, skirt, top, and apron. Small amount of grizzled grey hair and cap. Holding a woven bread basket and change purse. German, c. 1880.
H. 54 cm (21 1/4 in)
Condition
Discoloration and loss of paint consistent with age and use. Accessories, including cap and bread basket are later additions likely replacing originals. Minor loss and restoration to hands. Mechanism not currently functioning. Condition report available upon request.
