VIETNAMESE SWORD
Item Details
Description
Undated sword, 29 in. blade, 39 in. overall, presumed Vietnamese in origin, bearing a scallop-shaped cross guard and a handle constructed of a white, pebbled material. The double-edged sword, which bears spots of oxidation and surface abrasion throughout, shows a hand-dimpled design toward the ricasso with four Asiatic characters at the center, untranslated. An orange tassel is still tied near the pommel end. Sold with its original, black-painted wooden scabbard with a tightly-wound copper wire running its length, though the wood bears some chips and the wire has come loose towards the tip. Just good condition overall, yet suitable for display.
