A George III Provincial oak Norfolk chest of drawers
late 18th century

height 38 1/2in (98cm); width 32 1/2in (82.5cm); depth 19in (48cm)
Provenance: Property from a Private Los Angeles collector.
Condition
Originally a book press. Structurally sound. With an even nutty brown color to timber. Top split and with further cracks. With patches to center of either end. Corresponding rectangular hole to same area of each side panel. With later added panels to top of each side. General marks, nicks, scratches, rubbing and wear commensurate with age and use. Visible old woodworm. Losses to moldings. Hardware replaced. With polish residue around pulls. Drawer bottoms with separations. Backboards replaced. No key.
