A traditional Xhosa Married women. The xhosa tribe is another among the vast number of African tribes & cultures.




History
The Xhosa are descendants of the Nguni people of South Africa,
who migrated south from the Great Lakes region.
By the time the Dutch arrived in the mid-17th century,
the Xhosa had developed themselves across most of eastern South Africa,
from the Great Fish River region to the Zulu-speaking lands south of the modern city of Durban.

Additional Information
Dodzo's ability to transcribe emotion into sculpture is beautiful.
A simply sculpture that is speaking volumes
The stone is Brown and Golden Cream melds with natures splash of a light hint of Green.


Provenance
Acquired by A Motiram early 1990's(Nelspruit, Republic of South Africa).
Commissioned by Lidwala African Art Gallery to Joes African Art & Collectables, revised as Rana & Rana African Art.
