Description
Coin of a shield macuquino of Felipe IV, XVII century.Hammer struck, gold.Weight: 3,35 g.On the obverse cross of Jerusalem within a border with four lobes. On the reverse coat of arms.Felipe IV of Spain, "the Great", (Valladolid, 1605 - Madrid, 1665), was King of Spain from 1621 until his death and King of Portugal from 1621 to 1640. He was also King of Naples, Sicily and Sardinia, Duke of Milan, Duke of Burgundy, sovereign of the Netherlands and Count of Flanders. His reign was the longest of the house of Austria, and the third longest in Spanish history. During the first years, the monarch trusted and shared great responsibilities with the Count-Duke of Olivares, who through a bellicose foreign policy sought to maintain the hegemony of the Hispanic Monarchy. But finally the conflicts in Europe, and above all, the war with France produced the decline of the Monarchy, which lost and ceded numerous territories.
