Coin of 100 crowns of Franz Joseph I, 1915, Austria. Gold. Weight: 33.87 g. On obverse bust facing right with legend FRANC.IOS.I.D.G.IMP.AVSTR.REX. BOH.GAL.ILL.ETC.ET AP.REX HUNG. On the reverse shield with the legend CORONAE MDCCCCXV. Franz Joseph I of Austria, (Vienna, 1830 - 1916), was Emperor of Austria, King of Hungary and King of Bohemia, Dalmatia, Galicia, Lodomeria and Illyria from 1848 until his death in 1916. Franz Joseph's reign was marked by the conflicts that constantly threatened him, from the Austrian Revolution of 1848 to the First World War. It was characterized by the defense and imposition of absolutist ideas, advocating centralized monarchy, and confronting liberal and democratic ideas. His wife, Empress Elisabeth, better known as Sissi, with more progressive and liberal ideas than her husband, was very much loved by her people and influenced certain state affairs.
