Description
Rare Vintage Cloth Hawaiian Holoku Doll Souvenir. Hand-made By Thelma Taylor. Has Its Original Booklet. Doll is approx 4" x 3" x 7". Doll is in good, vintage condition with some light wear and exposed stitches. Would look perfect in a tiki themed bar. Pre-Statehood Thelma Taylor was a doll maker based in Honolulu when she created an 'Ohana of cloth dolls during the 1940's and early 1950's. Entirely hand made, these dolls have a strong family resemblance, making a group of them a sight to behold! Mrs. Taylor was well studied in the history of Hawaiian textiles and the evolution of island styles! These interests were reflected in the dolls she created, variously dressed in a variety of Hawaiian styles and time periods.
