Signed in pencil on mount recto; printed in green/red on card cover recto: Our Best Wishes For Christmas & The New Year / Terre and Edwin Land. Ansel Adams (b. San Francisco, CA, Feb. 20, 1902 - d. Monterey CA, April 22,1984), was the leading figure in photography in the twentieth century and the creator of the most famous art photograph in the history of photography, Moonrise, Hernandez, New Mexico, 1941, as well as hundreds of dramatic landscape images.

Adams helped establish the department of photography at the Museum of Modern Art as well as the Center for Creative Photography in Tucson, Arizona.

Adams began consulting for Edwin Land and the Polaroid Corporation in the late 1940s. He wrote thousands of memos as he tested the film over a 20-year period and he created a large body of Polaroid prints as well as enlargements form Polaroid negatives.
