A New Kingdom Egyptian steatite scarab with fish
Item Details
Description
A wonderful Egyptian steatite scarab with fish, New Kingdom, c. 1570 - 1075 BC, nicely carved with good details, the back with a variant of the 'an-ra' formula which was a popular 2nd Intermediate Period inscription. Because of the inscription, which is known to extend in various forms into the XVIIIth Dynasty, it is likely this scarab is from that period. 15 x 11 mm. Holed lengthwise for suspension. Ex Spangenberg collection, TX.
