Lot 0045 Details

Description
Ty s kem? [Whose Side Are You On?], aconsumer cooperation propaganda poster tentatively attributed to Sergei Bigos (1895-1937). Published by Tsentrsoyuz, printed by AIZ Lithographic Works of AKhRR, Moscow, c. 1926-1927, 69.5 x 53.5 cm.

The poster's title revives the propaganda slogan of the Civil War period, and underscores the importance and urgency of joining the cooperative movement by implying that the enemies of cooperation are the enemies of the Revolution. The fine, woodcut graphic images are attributed by the consignor to the talented graphic artist Sergei Bigos. Bigos spent the early 1920s in Siberia, but moved to Moscow in 1925 to continue his art education. Bigos later became a victim of Stalin's purges.
