Carved & inlaid mahogany Walter Durfee 9 tube hall clock, The ornately carved rococo style case with acanthus leaf carved cresting and columns on the bonnet, containing a brass and silvered dial with painted moon phase dial, the dial signed "L. W. Vilsack & Co, Pittsburgh, Pa" a jewelry retailer founded in 1893 by Leopold W. Vilsack, b. 1872. The Elliot type movement is unsigned and has 9 tubes striking Westminster and Wittington chimes. The waist door has a carved fretwork overlay with some splits and restoration, flanked by fluted and carved columns. The ends are fitted with scalloped glass panels. The base has acanthus carved corners and scalloped raised panel ends. The scroll board and front of the base both have rosewood veneered panels inlaid with a stylized winged bird/animal. The ends of the bonnet and the backboards all have fretwork panels to allow the sound of the chimes to escape. Each of the 9 tubes is stamped "WALTER H DURFEE CO/PROV/RI / PAT NOV 8 87/SEP 13 88/NOV 1 92/OCT 6 96". Other than some repairs to the fretwork on the front door, there are no apparent condition issues, except some scuffing around the feet and base. It is 8' 10 1/2" tall
