New Kingdom, 1550 to 1070 BC A well rendered voluminous carved and painted bird, probably an offering of a goose with feathers finely rendered in pigment on underside. Wings would have attached atop (now gone). 6"L, complete with plexi mount.

Provenance: Provenance: Acquired by the present owner's parents in Egypt during the 1930s-1940s. Ex-Christies London Sale 5951 Antiquities, 28 April 2009, lot 162.

Losses to wood and pigment and cracks to surface.
