His interest in art began at an early age, when he began sketching and drawing. He followed his artistic dreams to Paris, and began drawing and painting. He became interested in fashion, right during a period of radical change in dress from the Victorian age into the 20th century. A young vivacious woman who was an employee of the fashion house where he worked became his source of inspiration, and later his wife. Icart was on the cutting edge of fashion, design, and what became known as the Art Deco style. He became quite popular and successful, both in Paris and in New York, where he lived during the 1920's. He eventually returned to Paris where he died. * His influence on high fashion art and design is felt to this day *
