A FINE RUSSIAN ICON OF THE ALL SEEING EYE OF GOD, CIRCA 1890. An interesting and complex icon. At center, Christ Emmanuel placed atop a sun with four eyes, above him the Mother of God and above further still, God the Father. The corners with the symbols of the four Evangelists in roundels executed on a red field, and the background and borders ornately incised. The upper margin inscribed in Old Church Slavonic VSEVIDYASHCEE OKO BOZHIE (The All Seeing Eye of God). 12.25 inches x 10.5 inches (31 x 26.7 cm).
